2 Women Honored For 45 Years Of Service At Milford Hospital

They got to throw out the first pitch at a WooSox game.

WORCESTER, MA — Two local women were recognized for their many years of service at a hospital in Milford.

Maureen Corron and Kathleen Melanson got the chance to throw out the first pitch at a Worcester Red Sox game on July 20. The two have worked at UMass Memorial Health – Milford Regional for 45 years, according to a news release.

Corron, from Shrewsbury, works as a technologist in diagnostic imaging, while Melanson, from Blackstone, works as a medical-surgical cardiac registered nurse.

Both women said they were inspired by family members working in healthcare to follow the same path.

Corron said that she began working at Milford Regional after graduating from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester. Melanson started working in the hospital in 1980 as a student nurse, and eventually became an RN after graduating from Fitchburg State University.

“Maureen and Kathleen exemplify what makes Milford Regional special,” said Edward J. Kelly, the hospital’s president. “Our patients and community benefit from all our wonderfully talented and compassionate caregivers.”
