3 Charged With Firearm Possession: WPD

A trio of three Massachusetts residents were charged with firearm-related offenses after a traffic stop in Worcester.

WORCESTER, MA - A trio was charged with firearm-related offenses, according to the Worcester Police Department (WPD).

In the early morning hours of April 10, a Worcester officer traveling east on Chandler Street saw a car going in the wrong direction on the one-way Irving Street. After being pulled over, the occupants, who appeared to switch seats as they were stopped, gave inconsistent stories about what they were doing. The officer also noticed an open container of alcohol and found a short-barreled rifle with an extended magazine.

None of the three men had a license to carry firearms.

Jadah Putman, 26, of Fall River, Elvis Julian, 26, of Boston and Shamia Whitfield, 26, of Dorchester were placed under arrest and all charged with Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Carrying a Firearm and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.

In addition, Putnam was charged with Operating with a Suspended License. Julian had an outstanding arrest warrant.
