Worcester Community Action Council Gets $100K In Emergency Funding

The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts announced Tuesday it would award $250,000 in emergency assistance to three non-profits.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester nonprofit was awarded $100,000 in emergency funding.

The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts announced Tuesday it would award $250,000 in emergency financial assistance to three nonprofit organizations. Worcester Community Action Council, Fitchburg-based Making Opportunity Count, and Framingham-based South Middlesex Opportunity Council were awarded the funding.

The grants are meant to help respond to rising demand for emergency assistance, accoridng to The Health Foundation. The funding will support basic needs such as housing, utilities, and food, with an emphasis on individuals or families who may not qualify for other assistance or live in communities with limited resources.

“These resources arrive at a pivotal moment for the neighbors we serve,” said Marybeth Campbell, CEO of WCAC. “Rising costs for basic essentials and diminishing public supports have created a perfect storm of economic insecurity. This generous philanthropic investment will make a meaningful impact when it’s needed most.”
