61 Cats, Dogs Seized From MA; Home Now Deemed 'Unfit For Humans'
The owners, and home, have had 11 complaints with the town's health department since the '90s.
AUBURN, MA—Authorities seized 61 cats and dogs from a home in Auburn where its owners have been the subject of 11 complaints filed with the town's Board of Health since 1993. Auburn police detectives worked with the town's Department of Development and Inspectional Services (DDIS), the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Massachusetts Special State Police Officer Lt. Alan Borgal and Dr. Lorraine O'Connor, the chief veterinarian for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Agriculture Resources, to coordinate a search of 4 Buron Terrace Tuesday.
A report had been received of cats and dogs living in filthy, unsanitary conditions at the property. In its previous complaints that were filed, all were investigated and administrative actions were taken.
This time, 61 cats and dogs, including two litters of puppies and four litters of kittens, were removed from the home and will be medically evaluated. According to police, the residence was deemed to be unfit for human habitation and the property was posted as such after the residents were re-located.

Charges of Animal Cruelty and Operating a Kennel without a License will be filed against the owners of the home.
