Drought In Worcester, City Enforces Water Restrictions
This comes after the state declared a Level 2 significant drought for the region.
WORCESTER, MA — The city is enforcing water restrictions for its residents after the state declared a Level 2 significant drought for the region.
The city has banned all nonessential water uses, including sprinklers. However, the watering of ornamentals and flower gardens with drip irrigation, hand-held hoses or watering cans may be permitted.
For golf courses, the city is enforcing that the irrigation of fairways should be reduced to 60% normal. There should also be no irrigation of roughs, landscaping and ornamental.

"In current conditions, even average daily water usage in combination with a lack of rainfall leads to depletion of the water supply," the city's drought page reads. "Conserving water doesn't just mean using less water, it also means using water more efficiently, and YOU can make a difference."
It's unclear when the water restrictions will be lifted.
