Elderly Woman 10th Fire Victim In 2018 In MA

Ten people have died in Massachusetts in fires so far in 2018.

WORCESTER, MA—The woman who died recently in a Worcester home fire became the tenth person to die in the state so far this year.

Maria Montalvo, 85, of 3 Green Farms Road in Worcester, was the tenth person to die in a fire in Massachusetts in 2018.

The fire in her one-family home occurred on March 5, killing her and sending two others to the hospital.

The cause is being jointly investigated by the Worcester Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. There is no evidence to suggest this is anything but an accidental fire, according to authorities.
