Fewer Worcester Line Commuter Trains Due To Construction: MBTA
Construction projects in Worcester, Framingham and Natick will mean a reduction in service through September.

WORCESTER, MA — The Framingham-Worcester commuter rail line will see a reduction in service for more than two months beginning in July due to several construction projects.
Starting July 10, the commuter rail line will lose three inbound (512, 516 and 522) trips and three outbound (507, 511 and 517) trips during midday hours, according to the MBTA.
The lighter service comes amid the ongoing platform projects at Union Station in Worcester and the high level platform project in Natick Center. T contractors are also replacing ties between Framingham and Worcester this summer.

The MBTA is building a new center platform at Union Station to allow multiple trains to board at once. Union Station is the only one along the Framingham-Worcester line that can only board one train at a time. The upgrade allows for faster train service along the entire line, according to the transit agency, and work is scheduled to be done by the fall.
The slowdown in midday service will span July 10 to Sept. 15, according to the T.
