ASHBURNHAM, MA—The former director of the Stevens Memorial Library in Ashburnham pleaded guilty on Monday to stealing more than $50,000 from the library, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.Worcester Superior Court Judge Daniel Wrenn ordered Cheryl Paul-Bradley, 55, of Troy N.H., to serve three years of probation and pay $19,556 in restitution to Ashburnham, the balance owed from her thefts. She also agreed to waive her pension and to not to act as a fiduciary in any capacity, said the DA. Paul-Bradley pleaded guilty to embezzlement by a municipal official, two counts of forgery and two counts of uttering false writing.The thefts occurred between March 2010 and July 2014, according to the release. She resigned as library director on July 17, 2014. Paul-Bradley was indicted in 2016 by a Worcester County grand jury as the result of a joint investigation by the Office of the Inspector General and State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office.Photo via Shutterstock
