Driver Pulled Over For Hauling Overflowing Truckload - Again

Last week a man was pulled over for a hauling a precarious looking load of furniture in his truck. Five days later he got pulled over again.

CHICOPEE, MA—Police in Chicopee say they're putting this one in the "some just don't get it" file. For the second time in less than a week a Massachusetts driver has been pulled over and cited for driving with too much stuff in the back of his pickup, according to police.

Massachusetts State Police pulled over a pickup truck on June 20 because the driver had packed the back of his truck with chairs and furniture that bulged over the sides hiding the license plate, rear view mirror and side mirrors and held there only by a couple of ropes.

According to law, drivers can be cited under Chapter 85 section 36 of Mass. General Law for driving with an "unsecured/uncovered load" and he was cited for just that.

Less than a week later, this same driver caught the eye of the law again when he packed what they considered to be a ridiculous amount of brush, leaves and branches that again hung over the sides, obstructing the tail lights and plate.

This time Chicopee police stopped the truck on Memorial Drive and was cited for having an obstructed plate, obstructed brake lights and unsecured load. Yes, again.

"I am sure you are thinking to yourself, both instances are extremely dangerous, and not smart," said Officer Michael Wilk. "What will make your head shake even more is this is the same operator again. If you have to carry a load in your pickup truck, do not do it like this."
