Kamara announced on Nov. 6 that she would request a recount. "This decision is not about second-guessing the process, but about respecting our democracy and the value of each person’s voice," she said.
9,334 people voted for Kamara, who fell only 23 votes behind incumbent Morris Berrgman.
The six Councilor-at-large candidates with the most votes were incumbents Petty, King, Kate Toomey, and Morris Bergman, as well as newcomers Gary Rosen and Satya Mitra. That also meant incumbent Donna Colorio would be leaving the City Council.
