Lakeside Apartments Redevelopment Project Awarded $2M In Funding

WORCESTER, MA — The redevelopment project at Lakeside Apartments was awarded funding for its third phase.

The project, which began last month, will include adding 350 new apartments and 10 affordable homeownership units at 30 Lakeside Ave. in Worcester's Columbus Park neighborhood. Phase 3 was awarded $2 million in funding through the state's Community One Stop for Growth.

The first two phases of the project will replace 61 units with 116 new apartments and create 10 new homeownership opportunities, among other things. Phases 1 and 2 of the project are underway and expected to be completed in August 2027 and late 2026, respectively.

Phase 3 will include demolishing 65 units and constructing 104 new units. Ten of those units will be wheelchair accessible.

Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll announced the award, which is part of $179 million in overall grant funding.

“We’re proud to be a state of strong cities and towns—made stronger by programs like the Community One Stop for Growth, which give local leaders the tools they need to strengthen their economies and improve quality of life,” Gov. Maura Healey said in a statement.
