MA Troopers Visit Dogs They Rescued From Puerto Rico Hurricane

The MA Troopers who assisted the Humane Society in Puerto Rico will visit some of those dogs at a MA shelter on Thursday.

STERLING, MA—A group of Massachusetts State Troopers headed down to Puerto Rico in December to help local police after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island.

While down there, some of the troopers felt driven to help out with the Humane Society's efforts, too, to help rescue the many abandoned dogs displaced by the hurricane. Many of the dogs ended up being transported by rescue organizations to shelters in Massachusetts. The Troopers even filmed a short PSA urging prospective dog owners to consider adopting a Puerto Rico rescue dog.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m., the troopers who took on this mission are going to visit some of the dogs they saved who are now at the Sterling Animal Shelter. The video the troopers filmed will be released, and a representative from the Animal Rescue League of Boston likely joins the group.
