Home Depot Standoff In Worcester Ends Without Injury

Police responded to the Gold Star Boulevard Home Depot before 6 p.m. Thursday after a man locked himself in a bathroom.

WORCESTER, MA — A man who locked himself in a Home Depot bathroom on Thursday evening agreed to leave the store and was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation, Worcester police reported.

The incident began before 6 p.m. at the Gold Star Boulevard hardware store. Worcester police swarmed the scene and evacuated the store, and warned local residents to avoid the area.

But at 7 p.m., police reported that the man had agreed to leave the store speaking to police.

"Officers made contact with the male and he was safely removed," Worcester police tweeted. "He was taken into custody for a mental health evaluation. No reported injuries."
