Man, Woman Accused Of Driving Through Yards During Police Standoff In Central MA, Police
The standoff began on Wednesday night and lasted into the early hours of Thursday morning.
WORCESTER, MA — A man and woman are in custody after a police standoff in Central Massachusetts that began on Wednesday night and lasted into the early hours of Thursday morning.
Worcester police attempted to arrest a man while he was in his vehicle around 7 p.m. Wednesday on South Olean Street in Worcester.
During the standoff, the negotiator team was called and tried to talk to him, but he refused to comply, police said. After some time, the man turned his vehicle on and backed it up through back yards to Benjamin Road in Worcester.

He then drove his vehicle through the yards, up onto the road and got stuck near Skeeter Pond in Paxton, according to police.
Both the man and woman were taken into custody near Skeeter Pond, police said. The man is facing several charges on warrants, drugs, and firearms.

Police have not yet released the names, but said that the female was not being held against her will.
