Mass. Firefighter Of The Year Awards To Take Place In Worcester

170 firefighters from across the Bay State will be honored.

WORCESTER, MA — More than 150 will be honored for their outstanding acts of heroism next week at the 36th Annual Firefighter of the Year Awards in Worcester.

Gov. Maura Healey, Public Safety & Security Secretary Gina K. Kwon and State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine will honor 170 firefighters from across Massachusetts at the event. The awards are given for many different fire service activities, like delivering fire safety education or performing rescues under life-threatening conditions.

This year's award recipients will include individuals and groups from Brockton, Canton, Chelsea, Chicopee, Everett, Fall River, Fitchburg, Framingham, Lowell, Marlborough, New Bedford, Pittsfield, Rockland, Stoneham, and Yarmouth; the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy; and the Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Bureau of Forest Fire Control & Forestry.

WCVB-TV anchor Doug Meehan will emcee the ceremony. It will take place at Mechanics Hall, 321 Main St., from 10 a.m. to noon, on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
