More Mass Pike Closures Due To Construction In Auburn, Grafton

WORCESTER, MA — With spring construction season in full swing in Massachusetts, MassDOT projects at two main Worcester-area exits will mean closures every night this week.

The work will take place nightly starting around 9 p.m. and ending the next day at 5 a.m. Here's what to watch out for in the Worcester area, according to a MassDOT bulletin:

At the I-90 bridge at exit 12 in Auburn Sunday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. the following day:

  • When the I-90 ramp to I-395 southbound and I-290 eastbound is closed, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage to Route 12 southbound in order to access both I-395 southbound and I-290 eastbound.
  • When the I-290 westbound off-ramps to I-90 (exit 12A) and Route 12 (exit 12B) are closed, traffic will be directed to take exit 11A (Route 20 eastbound Shrewsbury) and follow the detour signs on to I-290 eastbound, then use exit 12 to Route 12 southbound to the I-90 on-ramp.
  • When traveling along Route 12 northbound, traffic will be detoured right onto Prospect Street and will need to follow the detour signs in place.
  • When traveling along Route 12 southbound, traffic will be detoured left onto Church Street and will need to follow the detour signs in place.

At exit 96 to Route 122 in Millbury Sunday to Thursday during overnight hours:

  • When the I-90 eastbound and westbound (exit 96) off-ramps from Route I-90 to Route 122 are closed, traffic will be directed to use exit 94 (Route 146 / Route 20) and follow the detour signs in place.
