'Name A Snowplow' Contest Returns To Worcester
DPW and Worcester Public Schools partnered again for the competition.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester's "Name a Snowplow" contest is returning for the winter season.
The city's Department of Public Works and Worcester Public Schools are partnering for the 2025-2026 competition. The contest calls for WPS students from kindergarten to 12th grade to submit entries for plow truck names.
The public will vote on the trucks that plow main roads in four different quadrants of the city. The new names will join last year's winners: Scoop Dogg, Sleetwood Mac, William Scrapespeare, and Snow More Mr Ice Guy.

Submissions will be accepted through Nov. 26. The public will decide on the winners, and then each winning classroom will receive a visit from and photo op with their named truck, DPW merchandise and recognition at a City Council meeting.
“The Name a Snowplow Contest was such a hit last year we had to bring it back again to name four more trucks,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “This is a fun contest that highlights the creativity of our Worcester Public Schools students and the dedication of DPW members as they work hard to keep our streets clear and safe during the cold winter months.”
