New England Police Union Endorses Mayor Joe Petty, Other Candidates

The union said its endorsed candidates demonstrated support for law enforcement and public safety.

WORCESTER, MA — The New England Police Benevolent Association and its local branch that represents Worcester's police officers announced who it will endorse in the upcoming municipal elections in the city.

NEPBA and NEPBA Local 911 will endorse incumbent Mayor Joe Petty, according to a news release. The union said Petty and a number of other endorsed candidates have demonstrated their support for law enforcement, public safety and the residents of Worcester.

The union will also support Kate Toomey, Donna Colorio, Moe Bergman, Gary Rosen, Dr. Satya Mitra as city councilors at-large; Tony Economou for District 1; Candy Mero-Carlson for District 2, Robert Pezzella for District 3 and Jose Rivera for District 5.

“These candidates have proven themselves to be steadfast partners to Worcester’s public safety community," said Tom Turco, NEPBA's executive director. "They understand the challenges our officers face and the importance of ensuring that our city remains safe and thriving for all who live, work, and visit here. We look forward to continuing to work together on behalf of Worcester’s residents.”

Election Day is on Nov. 4, and early voting begins on Oct. 25.
