Saint Vincent Nurses Claim Understaffing Caused Deaths: Report

Nurses from Saint Vincent hospital said gaps in patient care that led to two deaths stemmed from understaffing.

WORCESTER, MA - After two patients died because they could not be given potentially life-saving dialysis, Worcester nurses are alleging that cost-saving measures caused the improper care, according to a report from The Boston Globe.

The patients required continuous dialysis, a form of treatment that requires constant bedside supervision. The two female patients passed away in the intensive care unit on Sept. 29, and now the union representing the nurses is calling for reform.
