Severe Thunderstorm Warning Hits MA As Cold Front Sweeps In: NWS
Officials say the main threat could be damaging wind gusts and potentially isolated instances of large hail in parts of northwestern MA.
WORCESTER, MA — Would it really be summer without a few thunderstorm watches? A cold front is expected to sweep through the Bay State Tuesday afternoon, bringing with it potentially severe thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts, according to the National Weather Service.
Both AccuWeather and NWS are forecasting a warm and humid start into the afternoon Tuesday with storms likely hitting after 3 p.m. across western and northwestern parts of Massachusetts.
While the western part of the state could see the storms earlier, the rest of the state may see temperatures into the 90s. Boston is expected to be 89 until potential thunderstorms hit the area before 11 p.m., the NWS predicts.

Worcester County, on the other hand, is expected to be hit pretty hard with thunderstorms and even hail. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms, NWS says.

Thursday will bring the potential for more showers, maybe even thunderstorms throughout the day and into the night.
Friday is expected to be sunny and clear, ranging in the 80s throughout Massachusetts.
