State Rep. Kim Ferguson Announces She Will Not Run For Re-Election

The Republican lawmaker was first elected in 2010.

WORCESTER, MA — After eight terms, Rep. Kimberly Ferguson said she will not run for reelection.

Rep. Ferguson, the State Representative for the 1st Worcester District, said she will not seek another term in an announcement on Monday. The Republican lawmaker was first elected in 2010 to serve the district, which includes Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland and Westminster, all in Worcester County.

“Serving in this role has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life, and I am profoundly grateful for the trust and incredible support that have been provided to me over so many years," wrote Rep. Ferguson in the announcement.

Rep. Ferguson was named Assistant Minority Leader for the House in November 2021. She also recently completed 10 years as a Ranking Member on the Joint Committee on Education. She has served on multiple committees and boards during her tenure.

Ferguson shared that she will cherish the many people she has met and worked with over the years.

“I have also been blessed to work with many dedicated, talented local officials, community organizations and colleagues who have helped me do my job and make meaningful change,” stated Rep. Ferguson in the announcement.
