Student From Worcester Awarded Clark University AI Innovation Grant
Only eight projects received the school's inaugural AI Innovation Grants.
WORCESTER, MA — A student from Worcester is among eight recipients of Clark University's inaugural AI Innovation Grants.
Preeti Bachu, who is currently a senior majoring in psychology, was awarded a grant for a project labeled, "AI-Generated Summaries of Complex Scientific Articles: Supporting Emotion Regulation in ADHD Readers."
Bachu's project, "aims to generate quantitative evidence to inform future AI summary design choices that better accommodate emotional regulation-based challenges (e.g., frustration, difficulty shifting attention) for people with ADHD, making summaries more accessible by design," according to its description.

Bachu will work with other students and faculty on the project, including Clark University student Abraham Rahman, psychology professor Michael Miller, Penn State student Skyler Koba, and computer science professor at the University of Michigan-Flint, Steve Wilson.

The grants were given to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff from Clark. The selection committee reviewed 59 grant applications, but chose eight.
It is supported by the Clark AI Innovation Fund, established with a $50,000 gift from the Yee Family, including Trustee Brian Yee '93.
Bachu and other awardees must complete their work by August 2026 and share it with the university community.
