Thieves Take Only A Guitar From Home As Couple Is Out Of Town

Mark Mailloux, founding member of the band Sudden Urge, just wants his guitar back.

OXFORD, MA—Any musician will tell you that their instruments are sometimes their babies. A guitar is more than a piece of wood with six strings; it's an extension of the soul, marking a history of performances and songwriting.

Guitar player Mark Mailloux and his wife April headed to Oklahoma to her grandmother's wake and funeral, staying with family between Dec. 20 and Jan. 3. During that time, someone - or more than one - broke into their home in Oxford, but they only took Mark's prized guitar.

The guitar, a left-handed 2012 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus, lightburst finish, was lifted from the home, while nothing else was taken.

"It belongs to my husband, who for years has played in bands in the area, but has taken a break from the band scene for a little while," April told Patch. "It has been reported to the police, and we are not sure how someone was able to get into our home. There was a window that had been tampered with and that's the belief - that whoever did this was able to break into our home."

Mark was a founding member of the local band Sudden Urge and the home is located in South Oxford about two miles from the Webster line on Marshall Street.
