Worcester Police Investigating After Man Found Dead In Crompton Park
The unidentified man was found early Monday morning inside the Green Island park.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police detectives are investigating after a man was found dead early Monday at Crompton Park, although a department spokesperson said the person was not found visibly injured.
The unidentified 34-year-old was found around 6:30 a.m. Monday at a small campsite along the Endicott Street side of the park, according to Worcester police. Police who responded to the park confirmed the man was dead, but police do not believe he died due to an injury, Lt. Sean Murtha said.
The man was sleeping on a cardboard mat surrounded by clothing and other possessions, according to witnesses.

Community members initially responded to the incident by organizing a vigil for the man, who was thought to be homeless. Organizers canceled the event after members of the man's family asked for privacy and said that he had recently been housed.
