Worcester Art Museum Announces 'Free August'

"Free August" includes access to special exhibitions, the permanent galleries and the museum's August programming.

From Worcester Art Museum:

The Worcester Art Museum announces the continuation of one of its most popular summertime traditions: free admission for the entire month of August. “Free August” includes access for everyone to special exhibitions, the permanent galleries and WAM’s August programming -- including Art + Market, tours, Art Carts, arms and armor demonstrations and a Meow Community Day.

“We are delighted to offer free access to WAM again this summer, thanks to The Kirby Foundation,” said Matthias Waschek, the C. Jean and Myles McDonough director of the Worcester Art Museum. “From our popular cat-themed exhibition, Meow, to the magnificent, newly-restored Last Judgment Tapestry to all of the treasures in the permanent galleries, there is so much to see and do at WAM this summer. We look forward to greeting friends, old and new, as they share this meaningful gift and enjoy the museum as Worcester’s “living room,” a place where they can relax, visit with friends and enjoy being in the presence of art.”

"Free, unlimited access to art at the Worcester Art Museum for the month of August is my idea of a gift with impact,” said Lisa Kirby Gibbs, a trustee of The Kirby Foundation. "I love the idea that individuals and families who, perhaps, have never been to the Museum will experience WAM’s spectacular treasures and family-friendly programming. And I hope that folks who visit the Museum time and time again, like my family and me, take advantage of Free August and bring a friend!”
