Worcester Cooling Centers Open As New Heat Wave Starts

See the schedule for cooling centers that will be available in Worcester on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester residents who need to cool down during this week's expected dangerous heat should head to one of three cooling centers across the city, officials said Monday

The city will offer bottled water at the cooling centers, plus air conditioning. Here's where you can go:

  • Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library (Frances Perkins Branch) – 470 West Boylston St., noon – 8:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Senior Center – 128 Providence St., 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday

  • Worcester Public Library (Main Branch) – 3 Salem Square, 9 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Worcester Public Library (Frances Perkins Branch) – 470 West Boylston St., 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

This week's dangerous heat could push heat indices above 100, with the worst of the heat expected on Wednesday, according to forecasts.

WRTA buses are free and provide service to each of the cooling centers.
