Worcester Enacts Parking Ban, Closes Schools Due To Weather

The city is warning drivers to stay off the roads if possible as another winter storm impacts the region.

WORCESTER, MA — School is canceled, a parking ban enacted, and libraries closed due to a winter storm.

The city enacted a parking ban at midnight on Tuesday. City public parking garages were open and free of charge beginning Monday night.

The ban means parking is prohibited on main arteries, emergency and bus routes, and downtown critical streets. On other streets, parking is allowed only on the odd-numbered side unless otherwise posted.

Schools were also closed Tuesday "due to the forecast and timing for accumulating snow." Head Start and before- and after-school activities were also canceled.

The Worcester Senior Center, the Worcester Public Library, and several library branches were also closed.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Snow is forecast during the day, possibly mixed with freezing rain at points. Daytime accumulations are anticipated to be two to four inches, according to the National Weather Service.
