WORCESTER, MA — Boston-based Harpoon is reopening its Worcester beer garden for the 2023 season this weekend, which is a few weeks earlier than the inaugural year in 2022.

The first Harpoon beer garden opened at the end of May in 2022 on the otherwise vacant plaza between Commercial and Mercantile street. On top of Harpoon beer, the garden last year served wine and Polar seltzer, plus snacks and entertainment like cornhole and music.

The operator of the beer garden, Grafton-based Reunion Tap and Table, got permission from the Worcester License Commission in April for a series of one-day liquor and entertainment permits to operate the beer garden in May and June. The operator pursued a similar path in 2022, seeking permits for July, August and September later in the season.

The beer garden had already set up tables as of Wednesday in preparation for the Friday opening. The beer garden is also hiring for the summer season.
