WORCESTER, MA — The city launched a program to honor its long-standing small businesses.

The inaugural Worcester Legacy Business Program will include businesses that have contributed to the city's cultural, economic and social identity. Members of the public can nominate their favorite legacy business and share stories of how it has contributed to the city.

Those elected will be recognized as 'Legacy Businesses' and receive recognition, promotional materials and inclusion on an official website.

“As a city, it’s important that we make time to celebrate the longstanding small businesses in our community that have helped shape our culture and celebrate the business owners who have dedicated their lives to working here,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “It is a choice to open a business here and a choice to stay when you experience success. We appreciate and want to support all those who have made strong commitments to the City of Worcester and recognize their success.”
