Worcester Majors Basketball Team Names New CEO
The teams play in the American Basketball Association.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester's semi-professional basketball organization has named a new CEO.
Entrepreneur Shaun L. Murphy will take the helm as CEO of the Worcester Majors, the organization announced on Tuesday. He is widely known as "Mister Motivation," a national motivational speaker who focuses on empowering people who are "stuck, stalled or starting over."
Murphy is an adjunct professor at Quinsigamond Community College, teaching courses on college success and leadership. He is also the founder of Mister Motivation Productions and Wake the Beast Inc., a nonprofit that empowers inner-city youth and underserved communities.

Murphy now joins Co-CEO Papee Paye and Head Coach James Ford in leading the Majors. He plans to focus on expanding community engagement and strengthening developmental opportunities for youth in the community, according to a news release.
“The Worcester Majors are more than a basketball team; they are a platform for leadership, growth, and unity,” Murphy said. “We represent Worcester. We move as one.”

The Majors play at Worcester State University. The team's next planned game is against the New England Lighting on Feb. 1, according to its website.
