Worcester Man Accused Of Lighting, Throwing Dynamite From Home

Police arrested 62-year-old Richard Dupre, who is accused of throwing explosive devices out of his Worcester home.

WORCESTER, MA – A man in Worcester was arrested after police say he was throwing lit sticks of dynamite out of the window of a home.

Worcester police responded to reports of explosions on Catharine Street after 11 a.m. on Wednesday. When they arrived, they heard loud explosive sounds coming from the property and smoke filled the street.

After entering the suspect’s home, police said they found large, red explosive sticks. They arrested 62-year-old Richard Dupre, who now faces multiple charges, including exploding an incendiary device and vandalism.

The state police bomb squad took the explosives for controlled detonation, according to the Worcester Police Department.

No injuries were reported.
