Worcester Man Found Guilty In Murder Over A Bag Of Marijuana: DA

WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester man accused of killing 23-year-old Leon Wilson Jr. over a bag of marijuana has been found guilty, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s office.

It has been six years since Wilson was killed over a drug deal in Fitchburg that turned deadly. On Thursday, 28-year-old Mugisha Jeanbosco was found guilty of first-degree murder, according to the DA. The jury also convicted him of armed robbery.

Prosecutors said that Jeanbosco and two others planned to steal a backpack of weed from Wilson during a drug deal on July 11, 2019. Jeanbosco allegedly ended up shooting him six times during the struggle.

The Telegram and Gazette reported that Assistant DA Shayna Woodard said strong evidence linked Jeanbosco with the crime. That included text messages and camera footage of him at the scene.

Two other men were charged in connection with the killing, according to the DA.

Jonathan Baez, 25, of Worcester, and Jason Robinson, 39, of Fitchburg, were charged with armed robbery and accessory to murder. They are scheduled to appear in court on August 25.

Jeanbosco will serve a mandatory life sentence without parole.
