Worcester To Open Temporary Winter Overflow Shelter
It is located in the former Quality Inn & Suites.

WORCESTER, MA — The city announced Thursday that it will open a temporary winter overflow shelter.
The shelter, at 50 Oriol Dr., will have 36 beds in 18 hotel rooms, with two people in each room. It is expected to open Monday, Dec. 15, through April, and will be open 24/7 with a security guard on-site at all times.
The shelter is located in the former Quality Inn & Suites.

It will be managed by South Middlesex Opportunity Council, which will assist individuals with several services, including intensive case management, referrals to treatment programs, referrals to permanent supportive housing, assistance with stabilizing medical and behavioral health needs, obtaining photo IDs, applying and following up on benefit applications, assistance with workforce development, and finding employment, according to the city.
