Worcester Police Take Man Into Custody After Union Hill Gun Incident

WORCESTER, MA —Worcester police have taken a man into custody following a report of a person with a gun near the intersection of Dorchester and Cutler streets.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, police said in a social media post that there was an "ongoing situation involving an individual with a firearm who was behaving erratically." The many was in custody by 2:30 p.m.

Cutler Street is located off Grafton Street south of George's Bakery.

The incident recalls a situation last Friday in a neighborhood near Green Hill Park. Police say Caleb Boateng shot his mother and brother at a home along Colby Avenue, and then engaged in a 13-hour standoff with police that ended with him being shot and subdued by a K9. He was ordered held without bail at a court hearing Tuesday where he was charged with two counts each of armed assault with the intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, plus gun law violations.
