Worcester Preps For Snow: Schools Closed, Parking Ban, No Trash Pickup

Worcester will mostly be shut down on Tuesday, even with a lower snow total expected during the nor'easter.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester officials are preparing for an impactful snow event on Tuesday, and residents should expect closures and changes citywide during the day.

The nor'easter could still bring up to 8 inches to Worcester, a lower total than the 12 to 18 initially predicted as recently as Monday morning. Forecast models showed the storm's track shifting south Tuesday afternoon, putting the heavier bands of snow as far south as Providence.

  • Worcester Public Schools closed
  • Winter parking ban starts at 12 a.m. Tuesday
  • No trash or recycling pickup Tuesday; pickups will be delayed one day
  • Municipal buildings closed, including City Hall
  • Worcester Public Library closed
  • WRTA buses may use snow routes, but expect delays
  • Worcester 311 staff will be available starting at 6 a.m.

Officials reminded Worcester property owners that they have 10 hours to clear sidewalks on that abut their property, or else face possible fines.
