Worcester Teen Killed In Monday Shooting: Police
The shooting took place early Monday morning in the Union Hill area, Worcester police said.
WORCESTER, MA — A 17-year-old died early Monday morning in Worcester after a suspected shooting in the Union Hill neighborhood, police are reporting.
Worcester police went to Shannon Street just after 3 a.m. after receiving an alert from the ShotSpotter system, which detects the sound of gunshots in some parts of the city. Police did not find any victims at the scene, but did find evidence of gunfire.
"Officers began to check local hospitals for potential gunshot victims and located a seventeen-year-old victim. He was pronounced deceased," police said in a news release.

The shooting was still under investigation Monday morning. Police did not immediately announce any arrests related to the shooting.
Monday's shooting was the first homicide of 2024 in Worcester. In January, police responded to two other non-fatal shootings, plus 40 reports of gunfire, according to department statistics released this week.
