Worcester Ties Least Snowy February Record At 6 Inches: NWS
The average temperature in Worcester was also almost 6 degrees higher than normal, according to weather records.

WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester area tied its record for the least snowy February, a month that was not as wintry as usual by several measures, according to new National Weather Service data.
The region measured just 6 inches of snow in February, tying the minimum record set in 1934. The Worcester area typically sees about 21 inches of snow in February. The mean temperature in February was just under 33 degrees, or about six degrees higher than normal. It was also the 8th warmest February on the books.
In a "normal" winter, Worcester would see about 73 inches of snow, based on seasonal averages between 1991 and 2020. This winter, the area stands about 37 inches, and 28 inches of that fell in January alone. Zero inches fell in December, although November contributed 3 inches to the 2023-24 winter totals.

It's possible Worcester — and Massachusetts — will escape 2024 with no more significant snow events. Thirty-day forecasts published Thursday by the National Weather Service show up to a 70 percent of above-average temperatures in March. An El Niño pattern in the Pacific Ocean is expected to drive up temperatures across the globe in the coming months.
Of course, March and April have delivered plenty of snow before. More than 42 inches fell in March 2018, and the winter ended up being one of the snowiest on record in the Worcester area.
