Worcester Woman's $100K Campaign Honors Sister Who Died Of Leukemia
Amanda Beaudet-Barry is a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society "Visionary of the Year" candidate for her campaign to fund blood cancer research.

WORCESTER, MA — Twenty-six years ago, Amanda Beaudet-Barry lost her older sister, Maggie, to leukemia. The loss still brings pain today, and so Beaudet-Barry has mounted a six-figure fundraiser to help prevent families from going through the same thing in the future.
Beaudet-Barry has been nominated to become a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society "Visionary of the Year," and that means she will attempt to raise $100,000 for LLS to continue research toward a cure for blood cancers and to help children in treatment today.
"A short seven-week battle and her cancer won, leaving my mother to grieve the loss of her first baby all while taking care of myself and my younger sister," she wrote on her fundraiser page. "My vision for the future is to be able to live in a world where families don't have to experience the debilitating effects that blood cancers have on the entire family."

Beaudet-Barry kicked off her fundraiser at the end of March, but will continue collecting donations until May 31. She has two big fundraisers planned, including a casino night at Off The Rails on May 4 with prizes including a ski vacation to Utah, and tickets to Bruins and Celtics games. She also held a fundraiser at Polar Park on Sunday during the Worcester Red Sox game.
All proceeds from Beaudet-Barry's fundraising will go toward the LLS Dare to Dream Project, which assists children undergoing treatment for blood cancer. The project has a goal of raising $175 million for research and treatment support.
