WPI Union says Boo, Initiates Strike
A group of resident advisors gave a fright on campus today as they initiate a spooky strike on Halloween night
WORCESTER, MASS. Worcester Polytechnic Institute is facing threats from a union strike on Halloween evening. The students represented by the union publicly shared some details around their intention to strike. It is currently unclear how significant the support is for the strike or what implications it will have on the campus operations.
Details of the strike were shared by members of the Resident Advisors Union (RAU) which initiated its tenure on campus after the UAW organized multiple groups of students across campus during prior academic years. A copy of the announcement for the strike was shared on the university Reddit community `r/WPI`. The statement says a demand was made for Noon today. The user sharing the information asked for a show of support from the community after asserting "They have failed to respond favorably". The post states the start time of the strike was set for "3:00 PM today" [10/31]. It is unclear if the strike commenced at the stated time.
Update: The university did reply to my request for comment. The union replied but did not provide a comment for this story.
