2024 U.S. Presidential Race: Here's How MI Counties Voted

MICHIGAN — Michiganders narrowly chose Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris in Tuesday's U.S. Presidential Election, according to unofficial vote totals.

Trump is projected to win Michigan's 15 electoral votes in his path back to the White House after defeating Harris by roughly 81,000 votes, according to unofficial vote totals.

In addition to Michigan, Trump won the other "Blue Wall" states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Biden captured all three states in 2020.

Trump, who also won Michigan in 2016, is the only Republican to win Michigan's presidential race since 1992. In 2016 he defeated Clinton by a slim margin of 47.5 percent of the vote compared to Clinton’s 47.3 percent. It was the narrowest margin of victory for a presidential race in Michigan’s history, as well as the narrowest margin for any state in the 2016 race.

According to 270ToWin, "From 1972 through 1988, (Michigan) voted exclusively Republican, before becoming part of the 'blue wall' that voted Democratic in six consecutive presidential elections from 1992 through 2012."

Since 1992, Michigan has chosen the same candidate as other “blue wall” states Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
