MICHIGAN — For the first time in its 79-year history, Buddy's pizza is making round pizzas at two Michigan locations.

The Detroit pizza maker is best known for their Detroit-style square pizzas, but due to popular demand, they will serve round pizzas at its Grand Rapids and Portage locations.

The new round pizzas are available now and include a 10-inch round pizza, 14-inch round pizza and a 7-inch pizza for kids younger than 10.

On Feb. 17, the two test sites in Grand Rapids and Portage will give away a free 10-inch round pizza to the first 46 customers 18 and older who line up when they open at 11 a.m. Additionally, a random customer will also be chosen for free Buddy’s for a year each day between Feb. 17-23.

"Pizza should make people happy, and we were hearing and seeing in the feedback from our customers in west Michigan, many of whom may not have grown up with our Detroit-style square pizza, that they would enjoy more style options, sizes and price points in their pizza experience with us at Buddy’s," said Joe Dominiak, Buddy’s CEO.

Buddy’s Pizza was founded at the corner of Six Mile Road and Conant Street in Detroit in 1946. Before that, it was a speakeasy known as Buddy’s Rendezvous.
