Man Dead, Trooper Injured In MI Police Shooting: MSP
Troopers had a court order to pick up the man who suffered from mental health problems, according to police.

TUSCOLA COUNTY, MI — Troopers fatally shot an armed man Tuesday in Michigan's Thumb region, according to police.
The shooting happened at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in Koylton Township, which is roughly 35 miles east of Frankenmuth, according to police.
Troopers went to the home with a court order that was signed by a judge to pick up a 54-year-old man with mental health problems, according to police.

Troopers arrived at the home and found the man sitting in a vehicle, according to police.
When the troopers approached the vehicle, the man pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking a trooper in the hand, according to police.

Troopers returned fire, fatally wounding the man, according to police.
The trooper who was shot in the hand was treated and released at a nearby hospital. Police did not identify the sergeant or the man who was killed in the shooting. Police did not report any other injuries.
Investigators did not say what type of firearm was used or how many shots were fired.
Police were still investigating the shooting.
