Maner Costerisan team members volunteered at 14 nonprofits during Day of Impact
Firm pauses operations for eighth annual event
Numbers took a back seat to community service as nearly 150 Maner Costerisan team members traded their usual tools of the trade – laptops and spreadsheets – for gardening gloves and donation boxes during the firm’s eighth annual Maner Cares Day of Impact in November. The full-service public accounting and business consulting firm paused operations for part of the day, dedicating time and talent to help meet the growing needs of nonprofit organizations.
This year’s Day of Impact saw volunteers spread across communities in Michigan, including Greater Lansing, Grand Rapids and Jackson, and in Ohio, offering hands-on support where it’s needed most. From packing meals and mentoring youth to organizing donations and restoring green spaces, Maner team members lent their time and energy to causes that strengthen communities.
At the Greater Lansing Food Bank, 15 volunteers sorted, boxed and bagged food donations — assembling 1,008 weekend food bags in just two hours. The bags were distributed to local schools to help ensure children had access to meals over the weekend. Other volunteer sites included Haven House, Junior Achievement of Mid Michigan, Boys & Girls Club of Lansing, Capital Area Humane Society, REACH Studio Art Center, City Rescue Mission Uplift Thrift, Woldumar Nature Center, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region, Habitat for Humanity of Kent County, Mel Trotter Ministries, Kids’ Food Basket, SOAR Café & Farms, and the Humane Society of Erie County.

“Maner Cares Day of Impact is one of the most meaningful traditions we have as a firm,” said Sarah Jennings, CPA, principal at Maner Costerisan. “It’s a powerful reminder of why community matters—and why the work we do matters. About 25% of our clients are nonprofit organizations, so giving back alongside them brings that purpose full circle. Whether we’re packing food for families or mentoring youth, our team shows up with heart and a shared commitment to making a difference.”
Since launching Maner Cares Day of Impact in 2018, Maner Costerisan team members have contributed more than 3,000 volunteer hours, supporting over 70 nonprofit organizations across Michigan and beyond. The annual service day, held the first Thursday of each November, reflects the firm’s long-standing commitment to social responsibility, collaboration, and community impact.
