Michigan's Most Dangerous Intersections In 2023: Report

MICHIGAN — Many of Michigan's most dangerous intersections are in metro Detroit, according to a report put together by Michigan Auto Law.

The group used 2023 data from Michigan State Police to determine which intersections saw the most traffic crashes. On their list of the top 20 worst intersections, only two are outside southeastern Michigan.

"Knowing the intersections that have the most car accidents allows prudent drivers to decide whether it is better and safer to avoid these roads and take alternative routes," law officials wrote in the report. "At the very least, we hope this list will alert drivers to the fact that they should be extra-cautious when traveling through these areas."

Here the top 20 most dangerous roads in Michigan:

1. 11 Mile Rd/I 696 at Van Dyke Ave, Warren/Centerline, 218 Total Crashes, 52 Injuries
2. Martin Parkway at N Pontiac Trail, Commerce Township, 160 Total Crashes, 11 Injuries (Roundabout)
3. Schoolcraft Road at Telegraph Road, Redford Township, 154 Total Crashes, 47 Injuries
4. 18 1/2 Mile Road at Van Dyke Avenue, Sterling Heights, 135 Total Crashes, 9 Injuries (Roundabout)
5. Orchard Lake Road at 14 Mile Road, Farmington Hills, 132 Total Crashes, 12 Injuries (Roundabout)
6. State Road at W Ellsworth Road, Ann Arbor, 126 Total Crashes, 5 Injuries (Roundabout)
7. US 131 at Wealthy Street, Grand Rapids, 112 Total Crashes, 1 Fatality, 28 Injuries
