Popular Southern Chicken Chain Opening First MI Location

A popular southern chicken chain is coming to Michigan.

Bojangles, based in North Carolina, will open its first Michigan restaurant at 1730 28th Street in Wyoming.

Officials did not announce an exact opening date, but the Bojangles website says the Grand Rapids-area location is "coming soon," as the restaurant is expected to open 18 locations across the nation by the end of 2025.

The southern fast food restaurant is best known for its fried chicken, biscuits and sweet tea. Popular menu items include Bo’s chicken sandwich, which is a fried chicken breast hand-breaded with a crispy buttermilk coating and topped with two thick-cut dill pickles and a creamy mayo.

Other expansion spots include Texas, Florida, Nevada, New York, Tennessee, Ohio and Oklahoma, according to USA Today.

The restaurant was founded in 1977 in Charlotte. Since then, it has grown to more than 850 locations across 17 states, according to its website.
