The richest ZIP codes in Michigan include several familiar neighborhoods in the metro Detroit area, according to new census data compiled by IncomeByZipcode.com.

The site analyzed the most recent five-year estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey to identify Michigan's wealthiest ZIP codes based on mean household income.

Each ZIP code included had at least 500 residents and a reasonable margin of error.

The report found that 49060 in the Hickory Corners/South Gull Lake area is Michigan's wealthiest ZIP code, with an average household income of $323,905 and a median household income of $115,802. The area is located southeast of Grand Rapids and is home to 2,750 people.

To make the top 10 in Michigan this year, ZIP codes needed an average household income above $200,000, a reflection of rising earnings and property values across the state’s most exclusive communities.
