Trump Coming To MI Tuesday For Campaign Speech

Trump last visited Michigan in July, just days after a gunman tried to assassinate him at a rally in Pennsylvania.

HOWELL, MI — Former President Donald Trump is coming to Howell on Tuesday for a campaign speech, according to officials within his campaign.

Trump is expected to speak crime and safety at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Trump recently said that he wants to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on Sept. 25, in Grand Rapids.

The Harris-Walz team agreed to a second presidential debate that will take place in October, but the location and network were still unclear, as of Monday morning.

Trump last visited Michigan in July, just days after a gunman tried to assassinate him at a rally in Pennsylvania. It was also his first rally with running mate Ohio Sen. JD Vance.

Harris was last in Michigan earlier this month when she shut down a group of pro-Palestinian hecklers while she was speaking inside a hanger at Detroit Metro Airport.

In 2020, President Joe Biden won Michigan by about 147,000 votes, or 3 percentage points (51 percent to 48 percent) over Trump. But Trump won Michigan in 2016 when he narrowly beat Democrat Hillary Clinton 10,704 votes or 47.5 percent to 47.3 percent. It was also the first time a Republican nominee had won Michigan since George H.W. Bush in 1988.
