Learn About Energy Audit Program Tonight in Huntington Woods

BetterBuildings for Michigan is a Recovery Act program that helps homeowners keep their homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and save money on their energy bills, with just a few easy improvements. The program is available to every resident of the City of Huntington Woods for a limited time.

Each resident starts with a home assessment, where a certified energy analyst uses high tech equipment to locate places in the home where air is leaking, they also check your insulation levels and they test any gas appliances for potential leaks.

“People are surprised when they find out there’s air leaking out through a kitchen fan or around their fireplace,” said Sheila Vanfield, who is organizing the program in Huntington Woods. “They always think they need new windows, but they find out there are much easier ways to save energy.”

After the assessment, residents get a full report on their home that helps them choose and prioritize their options for saving energy at home, and BetterBuildings for Michigan helps fund any improvements the homeowner chooses from the report to get up to $1,500 of their Consumers Energy rebates matched, or they can get reduced-rate financing as low as 0% APR for 2 years.
