MARVIN Unemployment Website Available Through Fourth of July

Although the state of Michigan’s Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, unemployed workers can still contact the Agency’s automated Michigan Automated Response Voice Interactive Network (MARVIN) system to claim their eligibility for unemployment benefits.

MARVIN is available to those with free online accounts at michigan.gov/uia anytime on their reporting day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on most Saturdays.

Using the Claim Web Account Manager (CWAM), claimants can access account information and get answers to questions using the Virtual Problem Resolution (ViPR) team – where claimants can send an online inquiry and receive the reply directly by email. 

Because of the upcoming holiday, there may be a one- or two-day delay before the benefits are either directly deposited into the bank accounts or onto the debit cards of unemployed workers.

Individuals who choose to file a new claim or re-open an existing claim may do so even if their assigned call time falls on the holiday. For specific information about filing for benefits through the automated phone system or the Internet Filed Claims system, claimants should visit the UIA website at michigan.gov/uia.  Information about these options is accessible under File Unemployment Claim Online or File Unemployment Claim by Telephone.
