
DETROIT – Bethany Thayer, R.D., M.S., director of Wellness Programs and Strategies in the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Henry Ford Health System, was named Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by the Michigan Dietetic Association.
(The Huntington Woods resident) was honored for developing a series of educational videos about the role of dietitians, separating diet facts from diet myths and the importance of food safety. The videos can be viewed at www.eatright.org, www.homefoodsafety.org and YouTube, and are used for presentations by other Michigan dietitians and regularly seen in physician offices across Michigan.
As director of Wellness Programs and Strategies, Thayer oversees wellness programming and health education for Henry Ford’s more than 23,000 employees, as well as employer groups and the community.

Thayer, a 17-year Henry Ford employee, holds a master’s degree in exercise science from Oakland University and a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Michigan State University. She is adjunct faculty for Oakland University’s School of Health Sciences and a national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
